Why Is This Important?
942 New Mexico children age 0-19 died in the three years from 2014-2016. The most common cause of death in this age group consisted of 378 injury deaths that could have been prevented. Unintentional injuries were the most common (n=231) type of injury death, followed by suicide (n=78) and homicide (n=55).
