New Mexico Hospital Inpatient Discharge Data Query Measure Selection
New Mexico Hospital Inpatient Discharge Data
The hospitalization data in this IBIS-Q query module are maintained by the New Mexico Department of Health, Health Systems Epidemiology Program in the Epidemiology and Response Division and include all non-federal acute care and specialty hospitalizations in New Mexico.
Hospital visits for INJURY include inpatient hospitalizations that meet the surveillance definition of "injury" (see [https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhsr/nhsr100.pdf Hedegaard, H. et al, Proposed ICD-10-cm Surveillance Case Definitions for Injury Hospitalizations and Emergency Department Visits, National Health Statistics Reports, No. 100, January 23, 2017]. {{class BlueText Please note that for all hospitalization queries, in-hospital deaths are included by default. To query only non-fatal hospital visits, modify the Discharge Status selections in the Health System step to include everything EXCEPT **EXPIRED**. Visits to specialty hospitals have been included by default. To query only general, acute care hospital visits, modify the Facility Type selections in the Health System step. }}
Population Data
{{class RedText NOTE: On January 16, 2025, the NM-IBIS and NMTracking POPULATION ESTIMATES FOR YEARS **2010 THROUGH 2023** WERE REPLACED. Data from the 2020 decennial census were used to update the estimates. Rates calculated using the NM-IBIS and NMTracking web-based queries are affected. Each hospital inpatient visit has been assigned a primary diagnosis as well as multiple other diagnoses. Queries in this section filter on those diagnosis codes.
HIDD Standard Query Selections
Hospital Inpatient Discharge Data (HIDD) Standard Query selections allow queries by the primary diagnosis code.
- Hospital Discharges - Counts
- Hospital Discharges - Crude Rates
Crude Rate
This module returns the number of discharges, the number in the population, the crude rate (hospital discharges per 10,000 persons), and the upper and lower 95% confidence interval limits for the rate.
- Hospital Discharges - Age-adjusted Rates
Age-Adjusted Rates
This module returns the number of hospital discharges, the number in the population, the age-adjusted discharge rate (hospital discharges per 10,000 persons, age-standardized to the U.S. 2000 population), and the upper and lower 95% confidence interval limits for the rate.
